Skip counting in 10's

I am learning to skip count in 10's. I had to put a red counter on the 10's up to 100. This is easy for me. I can skip count in 2's and 5's too. It makes me proud because I can skip count.

Recognising contractions

I am learning to recognise contractions. I had to circle all of the contractions. This was easy for me because a contraction has an apostrophe and is short for two words like I'm is short for I am.

Acrostic poem

We are learning to write an acrostic poem. We wrote about spring. It can be tricky to spell words. We enjoyed writing something for each letter. We had to think of a word that started with S, P, R, I, N, G and we had to start our sentence with this letter.

Mrs Bovill typed the stories for us and we helped her publish them. We got to choose a colour for the capital letters, the font and we helped choose the size so our page was full. Our poems look awesome!

We are so proud because Mrs Bovill thinks they are fabulous and we wrote great stories. We are proud because we are poets.

“I like doing acrostic poems because of the capital letters. I liked thinking of words that started with a S P R I N and G.” Kallum.

Spring blossoms

Look at our spring blossoms! First we drew the branch going across the page. We coloured our branches using pastel. We made the blossoms by scrunching up tissue paper and gluing them onto our trees. We then made a little bee or butterfly to go on our picture. We sketched our picture and then drew it on our plastic film. Mrs Bovill then cut them out and we glued them onto our picture.

Shape robots

I am learning about shapes. I had to get the shapes and trace around them with the pencil. Then I needed to cut it out. Then I needed to stick them on once I was done with all of the shapes. I used two squares, five rectangles, one semi-circle, seven triangles. This was a bit tricky for me.

Using our word of the week and writing about community

I am learning to use the word ‘said’ in my writing. We are learning about community too, so ‘The Bee Lady’ came to visit us. I am so proud of my story. They look lovely, cute cool and super. It can be tricky to spell words like ‘bee’ and to type the words on the computers. The next step for me might be to try again so I can do it quicker.

I had to pick a pictures and I had to type in the same words that were on my piece of paper. This was tricky for me. This made me feel proud because I like it.

Number sentences

I am learning to make groups to five and write number sentences.

"I had to write a number sentence with 2 and 3. I got 2 red bears and 3 blue bears. There are 5 altogether. It is tricky to find out a number sentence sometimes. It makes me proud when I do it."

Writing for a purpose

We published our story. Our story was about mum. Mum was our word of the week and it was going to be mothers day. We wrote our story so Mum could read it. We have been learning that we write for a purpose. The purpose of our story was to tell Mum something we like about her.

"I had write a story about my mum and then I had to colour in the flowers with felt tips. I wrote my story because it was mothers day and if we didn't have mothers day we wrote our story so they could have something fun and nice to read. It is tricky colour in beautifully. I am happy I did it."

End sounds

I am learning to use the beginning and end sounds to help me read new words.

"I had to get a picture and I had to put the peg on the end sound. It is tricky to find the end sound. I am proud because I did it!"

We have been learning about Autumn. Come and see our autumn leaves and trees in
Room 4. We are so proud of them.
